B'more Urban Forest Project Closing Exhibit Saturday Night

The closing reception for the Baltimore Urban Forest Project is tomorrow night, Saturday, June 28th.

Other than this City Paper article I can't recall any other press about this city-wide, multi-dimensional undertaking, which is odd considering how "hot" green is with the media. The design community has been aware of this for months, of course, and it's just slipped mind to mention it here.

There will be posters available for the six top vote getters based on on-line voting. Those winners are here. I wouldn't call them the best, just the most popular. I'd take a Kevin Sprouls or a Dani Stitz poster, but the rest, no.

My other favorites are from Jocelyn Anderson, Viviana Cordova & Joseph Galbreath, Eamonn Donnelly,  Jenn Julian, Jann Rosen-Queralt, Whitney Sherman, and Lindsay Story. I regret not posting a "Best of" when they first went up. Here are all the banners.

I found it odd that some of the bigger names in town (Ashton, Spur, etc.) did not participate. Hopefully, that means they've got too much paying work.

See you there Saturday evening!

Hey man, you missed out ona lot of media about these events. CIty paper was a good one, but the new b newspaper did three great articles (including a cover: http://www.bthesite.com/archives/2008/04/helping-us-find-our-inner-arbor/#more-211)
Also, Baltimore Sun did three different articles, with a full weekend section front page feature which brought out hundreds to the Patterson Park Burlap event. Rachael and the team have been on local news programs almost ten times in different capacities (onsite and in-studio) and of course watch NBC news tonight and you will see the first look at the exhibit this weekend on MICA campus.

Anyways, keep your eye out, they also had write ups in JHU News-Letter, Baltimore Messenger, GayLife, Green Business Quarterly, 3 times in the Examiner, Washington Post, Washington Post Express. (Sorry to drone on here, but you totally missed out, and the team was great in the TV interviews).

Matt-

Whoa. I stand corrected.

Of the media outlets you mentioned, I only check out The Sun, The Baltimore Messenger (both on-line, btw) and WBAL-TV (all other local tv news broadcasts are awful, imo.) Missing three stories in The Sun is inexcusable, I admit.

It looks like the WBAL-TV broadcast happened after my posting.

I also have minor concerns as "b", The Sun and The Baltimore Messenger are all owned by the same people. I will admit the The Messenger has maintained it's neighborhood-y feel.

I never meant for this blog to become an Baltimore architecture and design news clearing house and will refrain from the "lack of media" comments in the future.

Actual design criticism and discussion to come.

Again, thanks for the comment. And pass on my congratulations to the team at Tilt.
